Renew your annual garden waste subscription or sign up to the service

Residents in Northampton Borough can now renew or sign up to the garden waste collection service for 2021-2022 subscription period.

Households that wish to have their garden waste collected after the 4 April 2021 will need to subscribe to the service and pay an annual fee of £42. By subscribing to the service, residents will have their garden waste collected from 5 April 2021 until 3 April 2022, with garden waste collections continuing on a fortnightly basis for residents with wheeled bins whilst residents who have their waste collected weekly in sacks will be able to book their collections online as required.

Wheeled bins subscribers will receive a new sticker with a unique reference number that will replace the old one whilst residents using sacks will not receive stickers this year. However, Northampton Borough Council's system and Veolia's onboard technology is able to identify subscribers and will only collect from these properties.

Residents with larger gardens can purchase additional subscriptions.

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, Leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: "We've kept the charge at the same level as last year, and I encourage residents to renew their subscription early so they can avoid any disruption to the service

"Subscribing online is straight forward and only takes a couple of minutes – a much quicker job than mowing your lawn."

Subscription to the paid-for garden waste collection service is not compulsory. Residents can also take their garden waste to their local Household Waste and Recycling Centre or compost it at home instead.

The last garden waste collections as part of the subscription year 2020-2021 are scheduled to take place during the weeks beginning 22 March 2020 and 29 March 2021.

Residents can subscribe to the service at any point in the year, however, no reduction will be offered for those subscribing part way through the year and early subscription is recommended to ensure minimal disruption.
